Use the capsule wardrobe idea. I just spent 2 weeks in Scotland with only a carry on. Just select about 4 outfits that are all in the same color family and will all mix and match. Include layering pieces if you expect temperature variations. Keeping it all coordinated narrows down the shoes, purses and jewelry you need. Good luck and have a great trip!
our family of 6 went to Italy for a month with a carryon, a duffle bag, and 3 backpacks. We did a lot of laundry in the sink, but I was grateful so many times that we didn’t bring a lot, especially when riding in taxis with teeny trunks.
Aren’t Dot Cakes just bigger cupcakes with flat tops and nonpareils? It’s so funny how influenced people are by what they see on social media. We can make these at home that are homemade with real ingredients and flavors of our choice, but people will stand in line for hours and pay $11 for one!
Love your blog and all the tips, recipes and glimpses into your life!
My advice for not packing a lot is just tell yourself that you can buy whatever you need where you are going. Just don’t buy too much or it won’t fit in the suitcase to come back 🫠
I finally stopped my chronic overpacking by asking myself what would happen if I didn’t pack something and needed it. 98% of the time, the answer is I would buy it at my destination. I have needed to do it a couple times (usually tampons/sunscreen/an extra shirt for a kid), but it’s totally worth the tradeoff to me.
Have you tried the Floura bars yet that the creator of Jeni’s makes? They also have a chocolate brownie batter, but I love the Raspberry Rose. So juicy and good!!!!
I’m in over packer also. I think I’ve gotten maybe 10% better over the years. Shoes are such an issue for me. Different outfits, need different shoes. weather changes, I always worry that I’ll forget or regret not packing something. I agree. I pack more when I use packing cubes.
I live in Brooklyn . Yes, last week I in line in Manhattan for the viral dot cake of Butterfield. It was yummy. Still, not worth the long, never-ending line.
As someone who travels for work ( I am an over packer as well) I got vacuum bags and/or packing cubes. It really helps to ensure I get clothes that I need and still leave some room in my bag.
